The Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence is transitioning from a Steering Council to a Board of Directors in a multi-step process.
We are seeking new Board Members to serve in a volunteer
leadership position that can help influence the conversation
about sexual violence prevention and intervention in Ohio.
The Ohio Alliance plans to elect nine new Board members to
two-year terms starting January 1, 2011. We are looking for
individuals from a wide range of professions, including law
enforcement, criminal justice, medical, victim advocacy, rape
crisis service providers, businesses and others, as well as
sexual violence survivors to serve in this capacity.

Ms. Norwood is the founder of Nirvana Now!, an
organization that provides training, consultation, advocacy, and
services for sexual abuse survivors which includes facilitation
of child sexual abuse and sexual assault survivor support
groups, caregiver and professional educational workshops and
trainings, and a speaker’s bureau. CeCe is a national
speaker, life coach, and the author of the book; There IS
Happiness After Incest And Child Sexual Abuse. She is
a certified trainer for the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program
where she trains caregivers and professionals on a variety of
child abuse and neglect issues. She is an education surrogate
parent and guardian ad litem. In 2008 she was honored as
CASA of the year in Lucas County. Additionally, Ms. Norwood is
a founding member of the Sexual Abuse Prevention Awareness
Treatment Healing Coalition (SA PATH) of Northwest Ohio; the
mission of which is to work toward eliminating all forms of
child sexual abuse and sexual violence and to advocate for the
rights and needs of survivors and co-survivors in Northwest
Ohio. Ms. Norwood is an adoptive mom of a fantastic 18 year old
daughter.

Dean M. Hindenlang currently serves
as the Strategic Planning & Projects Coordinator of the Voting
Rights Institute, a new division at the Office of Ohio Secretary
of State Jennifer Brunner. His primary responsibilities
include managing all division projects, serving as legislative
liaison for the division, and coordinating aspects of an Address
Confidentiality Program for the State of Ohio, pending
legislative action. Prior to joining the Secretary of
State’s office, Mr. Hindenlang worked for 10 years in the
non-profit sector, where his work focused on anti-violence
awareness, victim education and community action. His
non-profit experience, fundraising proficiency and commitment to
humanitarian causes keep him involved with many not-for-profit
organizations. He has served as a member of the Central
Ohio Hemophilia Board of Trustees, the National Hemophilia
Foundation’s Peer Advisory Working Group & National Planning
Steering Committee, as well as a member of the Buckeye Region
Anti-Violence Organization’s Board of Trustees.
Hindenlang’s extensive experience and knowledge of diverse
populations and community organizations has kept him working to
bring about positive change, particularly to underserved
communities.

Gary Heath received his BA in Public
Administration from Miami University and his Paralegal
Certification from Capital University Law School. Mr. Heath has
worked as a litigation paralegal and as a non-profit
administrator. He currently works for the Buckeye Region
Anti-Violence Organization to provide crisis intervention and
support to survivors of hate crimes, LGBTQ intimate partner
violence, and sexual assault; and educates the public, service
providers, and LGBTQ communities about the affects of violence.
Mr. Heath also is a founding Steering Council Member and Board
Treasurer of the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence.

Julianna Nemeth is a founder and current Board President of the
Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence. For the past five
years she has worked for HelpLine of Delaware and Morrow
Counties, Inc. managing both rape crisis center and prevention
education services in the areas of sexual violence, family
violence, suicide, and child sexual abuse. She has also
held positions with the Domestic Violence and Stalking Victim
Services Unit of the Columbus City Prosecutor’s Office, Big
Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio, and the Sexual Assault
Response Network of Central Ohio. Believing that the
institutionalization of privilege and oppression lead to the
prevalence of sexual and other forms of gendered violence in our
culture, she actively participates in efforts to expose and
transform destructive cultural practices. She holds a BA
from Wittenberg in Religion, an MA in Women’s Studies from Ohio
State University, and will be beginning an PhD in Public Health,
Health Behavior and Health Promotion, this fall. Julianna
lives with her husband and three children in Delaware, OH.

Jill Bunnell, RN-BC, SANE-A, Coordinator of Law
Enforcement Services for the DOVE Program, graduated from the
St. Thomas Hospital School of Nursing in 1979, and has held a
variety of nursing position at Summa Health System since that
time. She holds national certification in psychiatric and mental
health nursing, with approximately 16 years specialization in
the area of mental health and chemical dependency. Ms.
Bunnell completed her SANE training in 1998 and joined the DOVE
Program that year. She obtained national certification as a
SANE-A in 2002. She partners with DOVE’s Coordinator of Victim
Services to oversee the clinical care provided by DOVE
clinicians to adolescent and adult victims of acute sexual
assault, domestic violence and elder abuse. In her role as
Coordinator of Law Enforcement Services, Ms. Bunnell oversees
“first responder” education as well as all voluntary and court
ordered evidentiary examinations. She is designated as a Special
Subject Instructor with the OH Peace Officer Basic Training
Program and a Paramedic Special Topics Instructor.
Ms. Bunnell is a member of the
International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) and the OH
Chapter of the IAFN. She was a contributing author of
‘Female-to-Female Stranger Rape: A case Report,” published in
the Journal of Emergency Nursing in 2002.

Kirsti Mouncey, LISW-S, LCDCIII is a licensed independent
social work supervisor and a chemical dependency counselor. She
earned her masters degree in social work at Cleveland State
University and her bachelor degree in social work in Jena,
Germany. Kirsti is the Vice President of Client & Clinical
Services at the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center and in this role
supervises all services provided to clients and their
families/supports who have been affected by sexual violence such
as therapy, justice system and 24-hour advocacy. Kirsti has been
a part of the anti-violence movement for over ten years and her
clinical expertise lies in the areas of trauma and addiction.
She also has experience in working with clients affected by
mental illness, developmental disabilities, and various forms of
addictions, homelessness and domestic violence. Kirsti uses her
expertise by lecturing on trauma issues through the Professional
Training Institute of Cleveland Rape Crisis Center. She further
uses her broad professional background and experience in working
with trauma survivors to make system wide changes toward a
client centered and trauma sensitive environment for all
survivors.
The Ohio Alliance currently has six board members with two former Steering Council members who will be transitioning off the board within the next year. The current board will fill nine additional board seats by January 2011.
