Ohio Co-Conspirators in Ending Oppression

The Ohio Co-Conspirators in Ending Oppression (CIEO) is a subcommittee of the Statewide Anti-Oppression Committee, comprised of individuals working in various survivor/victim services capacities in Ohio’s five regions. As beneficiaries of white privilege, members strive to honor our responsibility to dismantle racism and intersecting forms of oppression. It is on us, not Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), to actively work against white supremacy. This work requires humility, self-examination, relationship-building, accountability, and sustainable actions. We acknowledge that there has been a legacy of racism within anti-violence movements, and as such commit to be aspiring co-conspirators and sustainable anti-racist work.

Membership

CIEO has multiple Membership Types for engagement so that individuals with varying capacities and time availability can participate. CIEO working groups are open to people doing work within the Anti-Sexual Violence, Domestic Violence and or Child Advocacy Fields and or movements in Ohio. We ask that members commit to 6 months at a time, with flexibility to change membership based on capacity at the 6 month marker.

  • General Member: Signing up for this Membership Type will add you to an email list to receive newsletters, be updated on opportunities to comment on proposed changes and future anti-racism projects but does not require any specific time commitment.
  • Working Group Member: Signing up for this Membership Type indicates that you are interested in joining regular meetings and completing tasks for at least two quarters.. As one project concludes and another begins, working group members will have an opportunity to change their membership type as needed from the group. We hope this commitment offers options to sustain interest in anti-racism work, even if time availability or capacity changes overtime.
  • Core Member: Signing up for this Membership Type indicates interest and willingness to take on project management and coordination of a working group project. This can include scheduling, documenting & overseeing progress and communicating with group members with support from CIEO Co-Chairs.

Join CIEO in our Monthly Working Meetings. In 2023, working group and core members are planning Quarterly Open Events, called: Putting Conversations into Action that center on anti-racism within the anti-violence fields in Ohio. We are also building community together, creating internal accountability policies and practices them together to continue learning and taking action against racism.
