Key Points in Ohio Alliance History
- April 2008: What is now
known as the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual
Violence Steering Committee forms with the
goal of creating an Ohio coalition focused
on ending sexual violence. Fiscal
commitments are made by the Cleveland Rape
Crisis Center, the Ohio Department of Health
and the Office of Criminal Justice Services.
- November 2008: The Ohio
Alliance receives its state not-for-profit
status.
- April 2009: The
Ohio Alliance is granted tax-exempt
status.
- July 2009: Ohio
Alliance
Steering Council receives the Executive
Summary of their Needs Assessment, available
here.
The Ohio Alliance holds regional meetings to
assess needs and plan strategically to work
toward ending sexual violence.
- November 2009: Victim
Services Coordinator, Jennifer Yoder, hired.
Ohio Alliance opens doors at 65 South Broad Street,
Suite 405 in Columbus, Ohio.
- March 2010: Samar
Kakaub Ahmad is hired as the Executive
Director.
- November 2011:
Prevention Coordinator Jasmine Finnie,
formerly of the Ohio Domestic Violence
Network, joins the Ohio Alliance.
- March 2011: Full Executive Board of the Ohio Alliance to End Violence is officially seated.
