READY! SET! GO! FOUNDATIONS FOR PREVENTION

This one-day training is designed to introduce the basics of primary prevention to new prevention specialists or prevention specialists who want a refresher on primary prevention. Participants will learn the Spectrum of Prevention model and gain insight concerning its application, explore prevention ethics, and explore the primary prevention as distinct from crisis intervention. Practical, hands-on application of concepts learned will be interwoven throughout the training based on participants’ needs. CEUs will be provided!
Training Objectives:
-Understand and articulate definitions of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention as they are related to primary prevention of sexual and intimate partner violence
-Differentiate between primary prevention and other forms of prevention and intervention
-Differentiate between primary prevention and other forms of prevention and intervention
-Identify ethical issues pertaining to delivery of primary prevention services
-Appreciate the public health model as a tool for prevention planning, implementation, and evaluation
